The Subway bread was denser and somewhat tougher and chewier. The chew/consistency of the breads were also different. However, absent the added herb/cheese the Jon Smith had the better underlying tasting bread. The Jersey Mikes bread was the best flavor tasting, the Subway was a close 2nd and the Jon Smith was somewhat behind. Given the 25% larger size of the Jersey Mikes over the Jon Smith, they are within $0.60 of each other if sized the same.īreads:ğor Subway it was their Italian Herb & Cheese, for Jon Smith it was their Italian and for Jersey Mikes it was their Rosemary Parmesan. The Subway was $7.25 (you’ll see why later on), The Jon Smith was $10.95 and the Jersey Mikes was $14.25. The pricing isn’t quite comparable either. The Jersey Mikes is wider like the Jon Smith and is a whopping 15” long, 25% longer than the other two, and also more pillowy making it by far the largest of the subs. The Jon Smith was also 12” long but somewhat wider and more pillowy than the Subway, making is visually a larger sub. The Subway is 12” long but it is a narrower and less puffy bread, making it visually the smallest overall. The breads were similar but we couldn’t make them exactly the same and the sizes were somewhat different as well but we couldn’t control that. However, all 3 places had very considerate and knowledgeable personnel, were clean and pleasant to deal with.īackground: We chose “Footlongs” from Subway & Jon Smith and a “Giant” from Jersey Mikes. Please note: We are not evaluating the establishments, just the subs themselves. None of the sandwiches were grilled or toasted. We chose turkey breast & provolone for a base with tomatoes, black olives, double dill pickles, double mayo and yellow mustard. We decided to do a comparison of the subs from each establishment prepared as closely to the same way as we could. We knew we couldn’t consume 3 sandwiches but we had friends coming over the next day to watch football so we needed something to feed them anyway. had previously had Subways and Jersey Mikes subs in the same area, we decided to do a comparison test. My spouse and I had been really wanting to try a new Jon Smith Sub place in Miramar Beach, Florida and on a recent Friday night we decided to do so.
